6. I agree with Ted Kennedy's argument that raising the minimum wage will help struggling families. After seeing the people in the show, I can tell that people are just barely getting by, and that raising the minimum wage is the solution to getting them out of the hole they are in. The opposing argument is that if the minimum wage is raised, then companies will shut down and take away jobs because of what they have to pay their employees. I disagree with this standpoint because to me it really seems that people's lives are struggling, not businesses.

6. I agree with Ted Kennedy's argument that raising the minimum wage will help struggling families. I agree with you for number six. Although it can be argued that businesses may have difficulty paying workers more, it is more important for people to be able to live without constant fear and stress. -Ari
ReplyDeleteI also agree with what you said about raising minimum wage. It seems that if minimum wage is low enough that well educated budgeting people cannot get by, then it must be too low. Additionally the fact that minimum wage has not changed over the past several years warrants the need for a change. With inflation lowering the value of money, minimum wage has actually decreased over the past several years. This should not occur in the midst of a recession with so many people unemployed.
